Innocence

I had the opportunity to attend an Art of Living event in Dallas for Bhutanese refugees last week. These people of the mountains have had a very tough life. They had come to live in Bhutan in the 1890s primarily from Nepal and generations were settled in the country. In the 1980s thousands were forced to leave the country just because the king of Bhutan thought they were "different" people. You can read all about them here. Some of these are really heartbreaking stories.

There was a senior AOL teacher in Dallas last week and he was to meet the Bhutanese refugees, share a little bit of knowledge and basically sing and dance. These people are amazing. I mean the whole energy level of the group was something else. The love, devotion of these people will simply melt your heart. And while I was clicking the entire group, this little girl caught my eyes. I absolutely loved the twinkle in her eyes.

It was such a pleasure being there. Will go again!

Union Hill

I think I am going to post some photos from my Ennis trip for a while now. We went to basically see the bluebonnets which spread like a blue ocean throughout Texas during spring time. They especially are a sight along fields. Union Hill is a small town near Ennis where we stopped by to see huge field of bluebonnets.

Harley Davidson - yeah..The place has so much character.. One of the best things I liked in US are the small scattered towns in the vast country.. It keeps my faith on humanity! :-)

Reflection - again..

Went to see Bluebonnet bloom in Ennis (Texas) this last weekend. Such a beautiful place and specially during spring when the entire place is covered by bluebonnets it appears as if the rainbow decided to spread on earth.

However, I just happened to click this one as we got our trail maps from the visitors bureau at Ennis. I do feel I should have spent some more time to get a better composition but nonetheless, this is one of my favorite in the album. :-)

I will post some more pics from this trip soon. :-)

I was driving down to Houston with Varsha to visit a very good friend of mine in December 2008. The drive was marked by beautiful roads and amazing sights. There was this rest area which was amazingly beautiful. Varsha and I tried to get some SLR quality pics with our point and shoot cameras. We sure could not achieve much. But some pics came out very well.

I took this one randomly and knew the instant I clicked that I would love this one.

I had a Canon SD770. It was a decent P&S. I almost miss it looking at this pic.

I did some processing on this pic - basically reduced the temperature. I had some discussion recently with a friend about using softwares to glorify the clicks. Yes, it becomes more of a technology thing than talent, but my argument remains that if your eyes love it and something moves within, it is worth it.

Snow in Dallas

This was an exceptionally strange winter in Dallas. It does not usually snow in Dallas - not in the traditional sense. It would snow for a couple of hours for one day and it sure would not stick. This year, it broke all the records..It was a white Christmas and it snowed 9.8 inches on Feb 11th! This was the highest snow recorded in a day in Dallas in the last 111 years..

And I absolutely loved it..

I took this one from my apartment..

For a city which does not get snow, it sure got a lot of snow! :-)

I loved photography always. But I never thought I would be clicking a lot ever. I definitely never thought that I would ever have a SLR. But then do we ever know?

There are some great photographers out there. But my single biggest inspiration remains this guy - Shrijeet Paliwal. He has an amazing eye for clicking the right stuff at the right time. What I also love about his photography is that he has an amazing sense of control on his gear. It does not happen often that someone, by their actions, inspire you to do some thing. I will remain eternally thankful to Shrijeet for this. Thanks for initiating me to this wonderful hobby Shrijeet.

Alright, then, so here I am. My gear is

Nikon D3000 and these lenses

1. Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR - kit lens

2. Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX - prime lens

3. Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G VR

I am just a regular amateur clicker. I love clicking my people, nature and just some random stuff. Something like this..

I am not sure that I will have a story about any photo that I post here. But I do hope you like them. I appreciate all your comments and suggestions.
